The Political Committee, in the presence of its President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangué, met this Friday at the People’s Palace in Malabo to analyse again the impact of the Coronavirus in Equatorial Guinea.

The proposal to tighten the restrictions due to the increase in cases of Coronavirus in the country has been raised this Friday by the health authorities in a working session that has brought together the Political Committee for Response and Surveillance to the new coronavirus led by Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangué.

According to the report presented by the Technical Committee, from October to December 15 of this year, 158 positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Equatorial Guinea, of which 98% of these people reside on the Island of Bioko.

According to the WHO Office for Africa, there is an increase in detected cases of Covid-19. Which suggests that the continent is entering a second wave of infections.

Given these alarming data, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangué, in his capacity as President of the Political Committee for the Response to Coronavirus, has once again convened the members that make up the two committees to seek new strategies to limit the spread of the virus in the country.

Despite the data collected in the report on the epidemiological situation of Equatorial Guinea, the government has sent a reassuring message to the Equatoguinean people.

During the meeting held in the Malabo People’s Palace, Nguema Obiang Mangué denounced the attitude of certain doctors who were engaged in falsifying and selling PCR certificates to travelers.

By holding this appointment in the last month of the year, apart from thanking each citizen for the effort, he has also congratulated them and appealed to them to continue respecting the preventive measures recommended by the WHO and the national health authorities to avoid outbreaks in the country.
